Faith Workout 1810.1 | The “WE” Mindset

READ Mark 2:1-12 REFLECT We all have two choices every day.  We can live with a “ME” mindset or a “WE” mindset.  The ME approach to life aims to serve self. It is motivated by what helps us get attention and praise.  The ME mindset often manifests itself in complaining and defending when things go wrong, but it celebrates self when things go well. On the other hand, the WE mindset looks much different.  It is concerned with how one can serve others. It asks, “How can I share responsibility when things go wrong, and how can I celebrate with others when things go well?” DISCUSSION In athletics, or in practicing your fitness, when do you find it more difficult to compete with a WE mindset? Jesus was once approached by four men who wanted Him to heal their friend.  When they couldn’t find any other way they broke a hole through the roof where Jesus was.  Scripture says, “Jesus saw their faith” through this act of service. What kind of faith did He see?  Jesus saw a WE mindset in their faith. These four men were willing to do whatever it would take to help their friend get what he needed most.  Their WE mindset motivated them to bring their friend to Jesus. “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!” – Philippians 2:5-8 SKILL WORK
