Faith Workout: Celebrate Purpose

CELEBRATE PURPOSE   READ Colossians 3:15-17   REFLECT What is the most powerful possession you own?  Isn’t it your ability to choose?  Animals don’t have the ability to choose.  They react.  One of the primary reasons we are called God’s children, made in His image, is we share His ability to choose.  Life doesn’t just happen to us.  We get to choose what we hope for, what we want, and how we react to the challenges present in our lives.   But don’t people of faith believe God is in control of everything?  How could God be in control and still give his followers the freedom to choose?  Scripture teaches God chooses for His will to be done through our choices (Philippians 2:12-13).  This is why Jesus instructs His followers to pray for “His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.”   So how do we choose to do God’s will today?  The most basic way we choose to do God’s will is by saying “thank-you.”  When we enter life with gratitude we find purpose in everything that happens.  This is how we choose to see God’s purpose through every aspect of life, including our fitness.  Whether things go our way or not, champions choose to give their circumstances purpose by simply saying “thank-you.”   RESPOND 1- List 3 things that happened yesterday for which you can thank God. 2- Commit to thanking God at the beginning, and the end, of each workout today.   CompetitorWords of the Day “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7
