Faith Workout: The Inner Dialogue

“I don’t trust my own judgment…it is the Lord who will examine me and decide READ 1 Corinthians 4:3-7 REFLECT 3-2-1 Go!  “I’ve done this workout before.  I wonder if I can beat my old time?  What if I don’t?  What if I’m last?  I can’t be that person everyone’s cheering for at the end.  It makes me feel like such a loser.  What if that new person beats me?  No one will notice if I shave some reps today.  I’ve got to make that time!” 3-2-1 Go!  “I’ve done this workout  before.  I want to beat my old time.  This is going to be a great finish with such a big group today.  That’s awesome those new guys are getting attention from coach.  Let’s go!  Right now!” RESPOND 1 – Which person’s inner dialogue sounds more like you? 2 – What is the main difference between the two? 3 – What gives us the freedom to pursue our best potential but still enjoy the process no matter the results? 4 – Whose evaluation did Paul use as his final verdict (in the scripture text above)? 5- How will this approach make you want to do your best athletically? 6- How will it affect your evaluation of others?  Of yourself?
